The Lionel Hampton School of Music offers a variety of bachelor's degrees and minors for our undergraduate students. In addition, we offer a Master of Music (in person or online) for those looking to attend graduate school.

The Bachelor of Music (B.Mus) is a professional degree and is the normal preparation for graduate study in music or for teacher education. In these degrees, the majority of classes are within music. The Lionel Hampton School of Music (LHSOM) offers a Bachelor of Music in composition, music business, music education or performance.

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) emphasize a broad liberal-arts education, with fewer than half of the credits in music and the remainder outside of music. Students who are pursuing majors in two or more fields typically select the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science option in applied music.

At the master's level, LHSOM offers a Master of Music (M.Mus.) in Winds/Brass/Strings/Percussion/Voice/Piano Performance, Choral Conducting, Composition, Collaborative Piano, and Piano Pedagogy and Piano Performance. Our online Master of Music (M.Mus.) distance program is offered in either performance or composition and is designed for prospective students that have at least three years post-undergraduate experience in their field.

Minors in music, jazz studies, musical theatre and vocal-instrumental music education provide students with a great way to explore music at while taking an alternate career path.
