Compose Idaho Contest
The University of Idaho’s Lionel Hampton School of Music is accepting choral submissions for the new 2024-25 Compose Idaho Choral Competition.
Competition submissions fall into the following categories:
- Middle School aged composers – An original melody and lyrics (which will be arranged by a professional arranger)
- High School aged composers – A completed choral composition for SA, TB or SATB choir
- Undergraduate level collegiate composers – A completed choral composition for SA, TB or SATB choir
Entries must be RECEIVED no later than
Saturday, Dec. 1, 2024
FIRST PLACE winners of each category will have their composition performed at a live concert of Lionel Hampton School of Music Vandaleers Concert Choir spring concert in March 2025, in Moscow, ID, and a recording of the performance. This concert will also highlight new music of its choral and composition faculty as well as selections from renowned professional Idaho choral composers.
Prizes:
First Place Undergraduate: $400 | First Place High School: $200 | First Place Middle School: $100
This competition is open to middle school**, high school and undergraduate college students. There are no restrictions according to race, sex, age, sexual orientation or residency. The works must have been composed within the last two years. Submissions may have been previously performed, but not previously commissioned or published. Arrangements of previously composed works will not be considered.
