Seattle-based Opus 7 Vocal Ensemble, Loren Ponten, artistic director, is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 winners of the Student Choral Composition Awards.

Winner of the Graduate Student category is Jesse Hampsch of the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho. Jesse, a native of Idaho, is in a Master's Degree program studying Choral Conducting with Dr. Michael Murphy.

Performances of the winning work and presentation of the plaque and cash awards will take place at the "All Northwest" Opus 7 concert on May 21, 2016, at St. Mark's Cathedral in Seattle, Washington, 8 p.m. The awards are open to students who are enrolled in public or private high schools, colleges and universities during the current school year throughout the Northwest Region, including Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. The goal of this unique program, in place since 2000, is to foster the composition and public performance of choral works by talented young composers.
